One of the biggest joys of scuba diving is the unknown and potential of discovery. When exploring the waters, one never knows what they will see and find, which makes it the more exciting. Thanks to scientific and engineering developments, there is now equipment that can go even deeper than human divers. These developments have led to Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and sonar that have now found many ship wrecks.

The Steamship, The Nucleus, was sailing with a load of iron ore on Lake Superior when it reportedly sank on September 14th, 1869. The ship got caught in a bad storm and began to take on water. The 144-foot shipwreck was found over 600 feet underwater in Lake Superior more than 150 years after it sank. This ship has been considered to be bad luck since it sank twice before the 1869 incident. In 1854, The Nucleus rammed another ship and sank it in Lake Huron. The Nucleus is one of the oldest ships to have gone down in the Lake Superior.
