Black Spotted Eel (Mastacembelus dayi)
The Black Spotted Eel is new to our livestock and bound to impress. Some don't consider the Mastacembelus dayi a true eel, but whether you call it eel or not, it will stand out in an aquarium. We recommend the Black Spotted Eel to the more experienced hobbyist for it may be a fussy eater at the beginning. It is a hardy and peaceful fish that will do well with most tank mates. Yet, make sure its tank mates are about the same size because anything smaller may become a snack. Also, make sure its new aquarium home has a sandy substrate and plenty of decorative rocks or driftwood to create caves that provide refuge. The Black Spotted Eel is a nocturnal fish, so don't expect too much activity from them during the day.
