The False Shepard's Pygmy Angelfish is a unique fish. Not only as a group, but but also as individuals. Because they are a hybrid between two pygmy angels, there is a wide variety of appearances between False Shepards. They range from looking very much like Flame Angels (C. loriculus) to nearly exactly like Rusty Angels (C. ferrugatus). Most look like something in the middle, which by a marvelous genetic coincidence, looks very much like a Shepard's Angel (C. shepardi).
