Macropharyngodon kuiteri, more commonly known as Kuiter's Wrasse is a small fish that does best in a large aquarium. They are found on reef edges in fairly shallow water along the Great Barrier Reef and out to New Caledonia. They love rockwork to graze their food from (mostly small inverts like copepods) but they require a deep, fine sand bad into which they will burrow to sleep or hide when startled / threatened. A large aquarium offers the opportunity to create extensive rockwork while leaving a lot of open sand. Very small specimens can be added in groups as well.
