Porcelain Crab
Porcelain Crabs are small, peaceful crustaceans that make fascinating additions to marine aquariums. They're not true crabs but are more closely related to squat lobsters and hermit crabs. Their common name comes from their delicate, porcelain-like appearance. They help in controlling algae levels as they feed on detritus and leftover food. They are filter feeders. They have specialized appendages called maxillipeds that they use to capture food particles from the water, thus contributing to the aquarium's cleanliness. Watching them fan the water for food and interact with their environment can be quite entertaining and educational.
