Blueberry Gorgonian
(Acalycigorgia sp. on Scleractinia)
Acalycigorgia Corals should be added to well established aquariums with strong water flow and low lighting. Generally found in caves or under overhangs. Acalycigorgia Corals are not photosynthetic and therefore require regular frequent feedings of small plankton such as live baby brine or other foods specifically for filter feeders. Acalyigorgia Corals do not tolerate copper medications. Acalycigorgia Corals should only be maintained by expert aquarists due to its feeding and other habitat requirements. Space should be given between other corals and anemones. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.
Blueberry Gorgonians may also be known as Blue Sea Fans or Blueberry Sea Fans. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. The Blueberry Gorgonian have an orange to red base with beautiful blue fuzzy looking polyps. Blueberry Gorgonian colonies will vary greatly in size, they have long polyps with rounded tips.
