Orange Tree Gorgonian
(Swiftia exserta)
Swiftia corals are found in temperate and cold-water regions, particularly in the Atlantic Ocean, including the western coasts of Europe and North America. Swiftia Corals are non photosynthetic and will require supplemental feedings a few times a week. Swiftia corals are considered challenging to care for in aquariums. They require stable water parameters, low lighting, and moderate to strong water flow. Adequate nutrient levels and the presence of zooplankton in the water can benefit their overall health. Swiftia corals have a moderate tolerance to copper. However, it's important to maintain appropriate water quality and avoid copper-based medications, as excessive copper can be harmful to corals and other marine life. Swiftia corals have a distinctive fan-like appearance with branching structures. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.
Swiftia Corals are also known as Orange or Red Tree Gorgonians. They are not commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Swiftia Corals are quite beautiful with various colors, including shades of red, orange, yellow, and pink. Swiftia Corals will vary greatly in size.
