Green Alveopora Coral

(Alveopora sp.)

Alveopora corals are found in various locations throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including the waters of Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Great Barrier Reef. They typically inhabit shallow reef environments with low to moderate water flow and moderate lighting conditions. Like most corals, Alveopora corals have a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae. These algae reside within the coral's tissues and provide them with nutrients through photosynthesis. However, Alveopora corals also actively feed on small planktonic organisms and organic matter in the water column. Alveopora corals can be sensitive to elevated levels of copper. It is important to avoid the use of copper-based medications or treatments in aquariums housing Alveopora corals. Alveopora corals can be slightly challenging to care for and are generally recommended for moderately experienced reef keepers. They require stable water parameters, including appropriate temperature, salinity, pH levels and supplemental feeding to ensure they receive adequate nutrition. Alveopora corals have a distinct appearance with multiple, long, tubular polyps that extend from a central base. When properly cared for, Alveopora corals can create a vibrant and visually striking display in the aquarium. When selecting tank mates, it is advisable to choose peaceful and compatible species that won't harm or damage the delicate polyps of the Alveopora corals. Avoid keeping aggressive or large coral-eating fish or invertebrates in the same tank. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Alveopora Corals may also be known as Alveopora Daisy, Flowerpot, Sunflower or Ball Coral. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Alveopora Corals are quite beautiful with a wide range of colors, texture and patterns. Most commonly seen with shades of green, pink, yellow or blue. Alveopora Corals will vary greatly in size and formation.
