Green Elegance Coral

(Catalaphyllia jardinei)

Catalaphyllia corals are found in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly in areas such as the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and other coral reef ecosystems. They typically inhabit lagoon and back-reef environments. Like most corals, Catalaphyllia corals have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae. These algae reside within their tissues and perform photosynthesis, providing the corals with energy and nutrients. However, Catalaphyllia corals are also capable of heterotrophic feeding and can capture small food particles from the water column using their tentacles. Catalaphyllia corals are considered moderately easy to care for. They have specific requirements that need to be met for their long-term success in an aquarium. They prefer moderate lighting and low to moderate water flow. Stable water parameters, including temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels, are crucial for their health. Regular water changes and maintenance of water quality are necessary. Catalaphyllia corals have a moderate tolerance to copper. While they can tolerate small amounts of copper, it is important to maintain stable and appropriate copper levels in the aquarium. Copper-based medications should be used with caution and following proper dosing instructions to avoid harming the corals and other tank inhabitants. Catalaphyllia corals are known for their impressive and mesmerizing tentacle movements. They can extend their long, feathery tentacles and sway them gracefully in the water flow, creating a stunning display. These corals are also capable of expanding their oral disc, which is the central part of their polyp, to engulf larger food items. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Catalaphyllia Corals may also be known as Elegance Corals. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Catalaphyllia Corals are quite beautiful with a beautiful range of green color. Catalaphyllia Corals will vary greatly in size and formation.
