Orange Cycloseris Coral
(Cycloseris cyclolites)
Cycloseris corals are found in the warm tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, particularly in the waters of the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and the western Pacific Ocean. They are typically found in soft sandy substrate on reef slopes and lagoon flats. Like most corals, Cycloseris corals have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae. These algae live within their tissues and provide the corals with energy through photosynthesis. They will benefit from supplemental weekly feedings. Cycloseris corals are generally considered to be moderately easy to care for, making them suitable for beginner and intermediate aquarists. They can tolerate a range of water conditions but thrive in stable water parameters. They prefer moderately high lighting and low water flow in the aquarium. Cycloseris corals generally have a moderate tolerance to copper. However, it is still important to exercise caution when using copper-based medications in the aquarium, as high levels of copper can be toxic to corals and other invertebrates. It is advisable to follow proper dosing instructions and monitor water parameters to ensure the well-being of these corals. Cycloseris corals have a distinctive disc-like shape, which gives them their common name "Disc Corals." Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.
Cycloseris Corals may also be known as Plate, Mushroom, Disk or Fungia Coral. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Cycloseris Corals are quite beautiful and typically seen as white, tan, light green, yellow or orange. Cycloseris corals will vary greatly in size.
