Gold Torch Coral
(Euphyllia glabrescens)
Euphyllia Corals should be added to well established aquariums with moderate water flow and lighting. However, if acclimated slowly Euphyllia Corals can tolerate higher lighting but not higher water flow. Generally found near shallow turbid areas where they may be protected from high water flow. Euphyllia Corals receive the majority of their nutrients from photosynthesis, additional feedings of planktonic foods will benefit their health. Euphyllia Corals do not tolerate copper medications. Euphyllia Corals are great for beginner hobbyists as they are easy to care for and reef safe. However they do have long sweeper tentacles care should be taken when placing the Euphyllia Coral in the aquarium as they may sting other corals. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.
Gold Torch Corals may also be known as Trumpet or Pom Pom Corals. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Gold Torch Corals are generally quite beautiful with a range of colors. However the Gold Torch Coral is a beautiful gold color. Gold Torch Coral colonies will vary greatly in size, they have long polyps with rounded tips.
