Gold Tip Hammer Coral

(Euphyllia ancora)

Euphyllia Corals should be added to well established aquariums with moderate water flow and lighting. However, if acclimated slowly Euphyllia Corals can tolerate higher lighting but not higher water flow. Generally found near shallow turbid areas where they may be protected from high water flow. Euphyllia Corals receive the majority of their nutrients from photosynthesis, additional feedings of planktonic foods will benefit their health. Euphyllia Corals do not tolerate copper medications. Euphyllia Corals are great for beginner hobbyists as they are easy to care for and reef safe. However they do have long sweeper tentacles care should be taken when placing the Euphyllia Coral in the aquarium as they may sting other corals. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Gold Hammer Corals may also be known as Anchor Corals. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Hammer Corals are generally quite beautiful with a range of colors. However this color variation is a lovely gold color. Gold Hammer Coral colonies will vary greatly in size, they are large polyp stony corals that look like hammers.
