Red Favites War Coral

They typically inhabit shallow reef areas, often found in turbid or nutrient-rich waters. Like most corals, Favites corals have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae. These algae reside within the coral's tissues and provide them with energy through photosynthesis. Favites corals rely on photosynthesis as their primary source of nutrition. Favites corals can be sensitive to elevated levels of copper, which can be harmful to their health. It is important to maintain proper water quality and avoid the use of copper-based medications or treatments in aquariums containing Favites corals. Favites corals are generally considered to be relatively easy to care for in a well-maintained reef aquarium. They require stable water parameters, including temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels. Favites corals prefer moderate water flow and moderate lighting levels in the aquarium. Favites corals have a distinctive brain-like appearance, with deeply grooved valleys and raised ridges that resemble the folds of a brain. Favites corals provide a unique and visually appealing structure to the reef display. Favites corals can be fed with zooplankton or finely chopped meaty foods to supplement their diet. It's important to provide enough space between Favites corals and other corals in the aquarium to prevent their aggressive growth from overshadowing or harming neighboring corals. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Favites Corals may also be known as Pineapple or Larger Star Corals. Favia Corals are commonly seen in the aquarium trade. They come in a variety of colors, including bright colors and brown or red with green oral discs. Some species may have fluorescent pigments that glow under certain lighting conditions. Favites Corals will vary greatly in size and formation.
