Pectinia corals are found in various regions of the Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and other coral reef ecosystems. They can be found in both shallow and deeper waters, typically in areas with moderate water flow and moderate light levels. Like most coral species, Pectinia corals have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae. These algae live within the coral's tissues and provide them with energy through photosynthesis. Pectinia corals heavily rely on photosynthesis for their nutritional needs and require sufficient lighting to support the growth of their symbiotic algae. Pectinia corals generally have a moderate tolerance to copper. However, it's important to note that copper can still be harmful to corals and other tank inhabitants. Care should be taken to maintain stable and appropriate copper levels in the aquarium, and copper-based medications should be used cautiously, following proper dosing instructions. Pectinia corals are considered moderately challenging to keep in aquariums do to their specific lighting, water flow, and water quality requirements. Pectinia corals are known for their distinctive cabbage like appearance, with convoluted ridges and valleys on their surface. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.
Pectinia Corals are also be known as Lettuce Corals. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade.
