Green Litophyton Tree Coral

Litophyton corals are found in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly in areas such as the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and other coral reef ecosystems. They typically inhabit shallow to moderate depths and are commonly found on reef slopes or in lagoons. Litophyton corals have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae algae, which reside within their tissues and perform photosynthesis. This process allows the corals to obtain energy and nutrients from sunlight. However, they also benefit from supplemental feeding to meet their nutritional needs. Litophyton corals are generally considered to be moderately easy to care for. They prefer moderate lighting and moderate to strong water flow in the aquarium. Stable water parameters, including temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels, are important for their well-being. Regular water changes and maintenance of water quality are necessary to ensure their health and growth. Litophyton corals generally have a low to moderate tolerance to copper. While they can tolerate small amounts of copper, it is important to maintain stable and appropriate copper levels in the aquarium. Copper-based medications should be used with caution and following proper dosing instructions to avoid harming the corals and other tank inhabitants. Litophyton corals have a unique appearance with elongated finger-like structures that resemble leather or tree branches. The polyps of Litophyton corals are typically small and less pronounced compared to other coral species. Litophyton corals are known for their flexibility and ability to sway with water movement, adding a dynamic element to the aquarium. Corals will benefit from the addition of Calcium, Strontium, Iodine, Magnesium and Trace Elements.

Litophyton Corals are also be known as Broccoli Corals. Not commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Litophyton Corals are quite beautiful and can vary, with common shades including brown, tan, yellow, and green. Litophyton Corals will vary greatly in size, when first being added to the aquarium they may appear to be shrivel but once acclimated and healthy will open up.
