Chrysurus Angelfish, Juvenile
(Pomacanthus chrysurus)
Pomacanthus Angelfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Pomacanthus angels may pick at sponge, tunicates, benthic organisms or sessile invertebrates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods along with Angel preperations which include sponge should be provided. Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheekspines, avoid using nets when handling. Pomacanthus Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. Juvenile Pomacanthus Angelfish may exhibit color or pattern differences. May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape.
The Chrysurus Angelfish is also known as the Earspot or Goldtail Angelfish. The delightfully colored Chrysurus Angelfish are a dark brown to black color with white bars running vertically. They have a tan face with blue lines and a clear tail as the fish matures it will turn to yellow. Adults have a darker face and lack the white strip on its tail. Chrysurus Angelfish can grow to 12".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 220 gallons or larger for this species.
