Great Barracuda

Barracuda have been found in brackish water however will require a very large marine aquarium as they mature. Although Barracudas are known to swim towards the top of coral reefs , sea Grasses and mangroves they have also been found in the open ocean and at deep depths. Barracuda are both opportunistic feeders and nocturnal predators consuming mainly smaller fish. Females tend to be a bit on the larger size.
The Great Barracuda is also known as the Short Barracuda. This impressivly large fish is a silvery gray color with dark spots on the top part of its body along with a few more on the bottom side near its tail. Great Barracuda can grow to 80".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 500 gallons or larger for this species.
