Longnose Batfish
(Ogcocephalus corniger)
Ogcocephalus Batfish should be added to well established aquariums with a sandy bottom. Ogcocephalus move sluggishly around the sand and rubble bottom or among seaGrass as they scanvenge for benthic invertebrates. Provide a diet of meaty enriched foods along with algae matter. Ogcocephalus can flatten and cover themselves with sand when threatenedd.
The Longnose Batfish is also known as the Walking Batfish. Longnose Batfish are not commonly seen in the aquarium trade but are very unique as they use their fins to move over the substrate. They are quite interestingly colored with its bright orange belly, and dorsal side having tan, beige, brown or black marbled appearance. Longnose Batfish can grow to 13".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
