Barred Blenny

Cirripectes Blennies should be added to well established aquariums. Rock work should be provided for perching, hiding and grazing. Cirripectes Blennies are considered to be peaceful however may pick at benthic species. Provide a balanced diet of algae and some meaty foods for optimal health. Should be housed with peaceful tankmates that allow Cirripectes Blennies to graze. Males may be slightlyly larger and more colorful than females. Cirripectes may display color changes during breeding. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.
The Barred Blenny is also known as the Coral, Reef or Rock Blenny. Not commonly seen in the aquarium trade but an interestingly colored fish. Barred Blennies are mainly a dark brown to black fish with 12 gray stripes, their head has web like pale gray spots. Barred Blenny can grow to 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
