Triplespot Blenny
(Crossosalarias macrospilus)
Crossosalarias Blennies should be added to well established aquariums with multiple swim levels. Rock work should be provided for perching, hiding and grazing. Crossosalarias Blennies may become aggressive to fish with the same size or body shape. Provide a balanced diet of algae and some meaty foods for optimal health. Should be housed with peaceful tankmates that allow Blennies to graze. Males may be slightlyly larger and more colorful than females. Crossosalarias may display color changes during breeding. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.
The Triplespot Blenny is also known as the One Spot or Big Spot Blenny. Not commonly seen in the aquarium trade but a good algae grazer. Triplespot Blennies have white spots over a mainly brown to green mottled body, cream colored belly with yellow and red highlights on the dorsal fin. Triplespot Blennies can grow to 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
