Forktail Blenny
(Meiacanthus atrodorsalis var.)
Meiacanthus Blennies are also known as Fang Blennies and should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of swim room. Rock work should be provided for perching, hiding and grazing. Meiacanthus Blennies are considered to be easy and peaceful however, can become territorial to other fish resembling their shape. If sufficient algae is not present supplement with algae based foods and algae matter. Males tend to be larger than females and experience color changes during breeding. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders however the Meiacanthus genus of Blennies do not share this trait. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.
The Forktail Blenny is also known as the Yellowtail Fangblenny or Eyelash Harp Tail Blenny. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. The front part of the Forktail Blennies body is a pale blue coloration with the rest of the body, dorsal, anal fin, upper and lower lobes of the tail being yellow. There is a thin black stripe that runs through the eye and slightlyly above it. Forktail Blenny can grow to 4".
