Sharp Nosed Weever Blenny

(Parapercis hexophthalma)

Parapercis Blennies also known as sandperches and should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of swim room. Rock work should be provided for perching, hiding and grazing. They are hardy, active and can be a bit aggressive and territorial towards smaller, less aggressive tank mates. Provide a diet rich in meaty foods. Parapercis Blennies may pick at small fish or crustaceans. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.

The Sharp Nosed Weever is also known as the Speckled Sand Perch. Uncommonly seen in the aquarium trade. Sharp Nosed Weevers are differing shades of green with a white belly. There is a horizontal row of white spots with black centers. Females have brown spots on their heads and males have diagonal yellow to brown marks on their cheeks. The belly also has small black spots surrounded by yellow. Sharp Nosed Weever can grow to 11".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
