Blue Striped Fang Blenny
(Plagiotremus rhinorhynchos)
Plagiotremus Blennies should be added to well established aquariums with rock work for perching, hiding and grazing. They are hardy, active and can be a bit aggressive and territorial towards smaller, less aggressive tank mates. Plagiotremus Blennies are often found in areas of lagoons, seaward reefs. Provide a diet rich in meaty foods. Plagiotremus Blennies may pick at small fish or crustaceans. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.
The Blue Striped Fang Blenny is also known as the Bluestriped, Bluestriped Sabretooth, Blunt-Nose, Cleaner Mimic, Tube Worm or Two Stripe Blenny. Not usually seen in the aquarium trade. Blue Striped Fang Blennies are capable of changing their coloration if juvenile Cleaner Wrasse are present. They have a white belly but are mainly an orange color with lavendar and light blue stripes. Blue Striped Fang Blennies can grow to 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
