Threadfin Butterflyfish

Chaetodon Butterflyfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Chaetodon Butterflyfish may pick at corals and crustaceans. A diet of meaty and algae based foods should be provided multiple times daily. Multiples can be added simultaneously to a large aquarium. Chaetodon Butterflyfish tend to be shy and peaceful but can become territorial if their aquarium is to small.
The Threadfin Butterflyfish is also known as the Auriga or Diagonal Butterflyfish. Threadfin Butterflyfish are common in the aquarium trade. Threadfin Butterflyfish have a silver body with a black band that covers its eyes, a series of diagonal black lines running two different ways accent this beautiful fish. Its dorsal, anal, and tail fin are a bright yellow. Red Sea species will lack the black eye spot on its dorsal fin. Threadfin Butterflyfish can grow to 9".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 100 gallons or larger for this species.
