Apogon Cardinalfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work with caves and ledges should be provided for grazing and hiding. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are peaceful schooling fish but carefully research each species before adding to your aquarium. A diverse diet of enriched meaty foods should be provided for continued good health. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are active at night and rest during the day. Some Cardinalfish are mouth brooders research each species to ensure the appropriate care is given. They are slow methodical swimmers house with other peaceful tank mates.
The Barspot Cardinalfish is also known as the Cortez Red Barspot Cardinalfish. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. The Barspot Cardinalfish is a beautiful pink to red color with a black bar running vertically from the dorsal to almost the anal fin. There is also a black spot close to the caudal peduncle. Barspot Cardinalfish can grow to almost 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
