Apogon Cardinalfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work with caves and ledges should be provided for grazing and hiding. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are peaceful schooling fish but carefully research each species before adding to your aquarium. A diverse diet of enriched meaty foods should be provided for continued good health. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are active at night and rest during the day. Some Cardinalfish are mouth brooders research each species to ensure the appropriate care is given. They are slow methodical swimmers house with other peaceful tank mates.
The Belted Cardinalfish is also known as the Townsend's Cardinalfish. Somewhat commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Belted Cardinalfish is a delicate orange to pink coloration almost translucent with 2 dark bands around its body and a thicker band around the caudal peduncle. Belted Cardinalfish can grow to almost 3".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
