Azure Damselfish
(Chrysiptera hemicyanea)
Chrysiptera Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Chrysiptera Damselfish may pick at small benthic crustaceans. Chrysiptera Damselfish are quite easy and hardy they make good beginner fish. Be sure to thoroughly research each species as some Chrysiptera Damselfish are known to be quite territorial and aggressive. They should be housed with large tank mates that are not easily harrassed. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided. Males and females are difficult to differentiate however males tend to be slightlyly larger.
The Azure Damselfish are also known as the Half Blue Damselfish. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. The Azure Damselfish is an extraodinarily beautiful twotone colored fish with its upper body and dorsal fin being blue and a yellow lower half, caudal peduncle, pelvic and anal fins.
