Gold Tail / Half Blue Damselfish
(Chrysiptera arnazae)
Chrysiptera Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Chrysiptera Damselfish are quite easy and hardy they make good beginner fish. Be sure to thoroughly research each species as some Chrysiptera Damselfish are known to be quite territorial and aggressive in small aquariums. They should be housed with large tank mates that are not easily harassed, and this species can be maintained in small groups on 6 foot aquariums. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided. Males and females are difficult to differentiate however males tend to be slightly larger.
The Gold Tail / Half Blue Damselfish is also known as the Arnaz's Damselfish, and was formerly known as Chrystiptera cf parasema, but in 2010, was scientifically described as Chrysiptera arnazae, and is occasionally seen in the aquarium trade.
The Gold Tail / Half Blue Demoiselle is an incredibly beautiful light, metallic blue color, with yellow on pelvic fins, caudal fin, and posterior portions of the dorsal and anal fin. They can grow to almost 2".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
