Tracy's Damselfish
(Chrysiptera traceyi)
Chrysiptera Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Chrysiptera Damselfish may pick at small benthic crustaceans. Chrysiptera Damselfish are quite easy and hardy they make good beginner fish. Be sure to thoroughly research each species as some Chrysiptera Damselfish are known to be quite territorial and aggressive. They should be housed with large tank mates that are not easily harrassed. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided. Males and females are difficult to differentiate however males tend to be slightlyly larger.
The Tracy's Damselfish are also known as the Tracy's Demoiselle. Very rarely seen in the aquarium trade. The Tracy's Damselfish have a very captive color pattern. The front half of the body is a bright blue to purple color that dims to a bronze and yellow color highlighted with a black spot at the base of its dorsal fin. They can grow to almost 3".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
