Domino Damselfish
(Dascyllus albisella)
Dascyllus Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Dascyllus Damselfish may pick at small benthic crustaceans. Be sure to thoroughly research each species as some Dascyllus Damselfish are known to be quite territorial and aggressive. Juveniles can be added in small groups but as they mature will be become more aggressive. They should be housed with larger tank mates not easily harrassed. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided.
The Domino Damselfish are also known as the Threespot Dascyllus. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. The juvenile and adult Domino Damselfish will have different color patterns. Both juveniles and adults are an overall black color the juveniles will have a distinct large white spot on its body along with a white spot on its head. As the fish matures they lose the head spot and the body spot begins to spread and change color to almost appear a light gray. They can grow to almost 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 75 gallons or larger for this species.
