Yellowtail Damselfish
(Dascyllus flavicaudus)
Dascyllus Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Dascyllus Damselfish may pick at small benthic crustaceans. Be sure to thoroughly research each species as some Dascyllus Damselfish are known to be quite territorial and aggressive. Juveniles can be added in small groups but as they mature will be become more aggressive. They should be housed with larger tank mates not easily harrassed. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided.
The Yellowtail Damselfish are also known as the Yellowtail Dascyllus. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Yellowtail Damselfish are quite interesting with a net like body appearance. They are black with a blue to brown hue, yellow to white tail as well as the back part of the dorsal fin. They can grow to almost 3".
