Garibaldi Damselfish, Juvenile

Hpsypops Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Hypsypops are found in kelp forests and prefer cooler temperatures. Hypsypops Damselfish are hardy, can be aggressive and should be housed with larger tank mates that are not easily harrassed. They also prefer cooler temperatures. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided. There are marked color differences between juveniles and adults.
The Garibaldi Damselfish are also known as the Catalina or Marine Goldfish . Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Juvenile Garibaldi Damselfish have a bright orange body and blue spots. As the fish matures the blue spots will begin to fade. They can grow a little over 14".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 500 gallons or larger for this species.
