Giant Damselfish

Microspathodon Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of boulder type rock work should be provided along with strong water flow. Microspathodon Damselfish are very aggressive careful planning and consideration should be taken before adding fish to aquariums. They should be housed singly and only be housed with larger, intrusive and more aggressive tank mates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided several times daily.
The Giant Damselfish are also known as the Giant Jewel Damselfish. Rarely ever seen in the aquarium trade. The Giant Damselfish juveniles and adults will have color differences. Juveniles have a dark blue body and a few pale white to iridescent blue spots. Adults are a dark blue with fins trimmed in white. They can grow a little over 12".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 150 gallons or larger for this species.
