Black & Gold Chromis
(Neoglyphidodon nigroris)
Neoglyphidodon Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing. Neoglyphidodon Damselfish are very aggressive careful planning and consideration should be taken before adding fish to aquariums. They should be housed singly and only be housed with larger, intrusive and more aggressive tank mates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided several times daily. They may also pick at soft corals. May see juvenile and adult color differences.
The Black & Gold Chromis are also known as the Behn's, Yellowfin or Blackmouth Damselfish. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. The Black & Gold juveniles and adults will have color differences. Juveniles are mainly yellow with two black stripes running horizontally along its body. As the fish matures the front half of the body will begin to darken to a light brown color while the back portion of the body, tail, anal and dorsal fins are yellow. They can grow a little over 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
