Blackbar Devil Damselfish

Plectroglyphidodon Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for resting and establishing their territory. Plectroglyphidodon Damselfish are very aggressive careful planning and consideration should be taken before adding fish to aquariums. They should be housed singly and only be housed with larger, intrusive and more aggressive tank mates. Plectroglyphidodon are aggressive feeders a diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided several times daily. They are not reef safe and may pick at corals and invertebrats. As the fish matures they may begin loosing their vibrant coloration.
The Blackbar Devil Damselfish are also known as the Dick's Damselfish. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. The Blackbar Devil Damselfish juveniles and adults will appear differently. Juveniles have a off white color with a vertical black stripe on the back of its body. Adults will retain their black stripe but will begin to turn tan to yellow and have a yellow tail. They can grow to a little over 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
