Banded Longfin Dottyback

Belonepterygion Dottybacks are small, hardy, and easy to feed. Plenty of rock work with cracks and crevices should be provided for hiding. Belonepterygion Dottybacks may pick at and consume benthic invertebrates. They have also been known to eat crustaceans, polychaete worms, bristle worms and mantis shrimp. A diet of meaty based foods a should be provided multiple times daily. Although Belonetperygion Dottybacks are known to be territorial and aggressive towards other fish they are also quite shy. Belonepterygion should be housed with larger fish that are not easily harrassed.
The Barred Spiny Dottyback are also known simply as Banded Longfin or simply the Spiny Basslet. Seldomly seen in the aquarium trade. Overall this unique fish is a rich brown, vertical dark stripes running down its body, fins are a dark brown, the bottom of its head and chest are an orange color with a white stripe below its eye. They can grow to almost 2".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
