Fire Tailed Dottyback
(Labracinus cyclophthalmus)
Plenty of rock work with cracks, caves and crevices should be provided for hiding. They will eat crustaceans, polychaete worms and small fish. A diet of meaty based foods a should be provided daily. Labracinus Dottybacks are hardy, and easy to feed. Although Labracinus are known to be territorial and very aggressive towards other fish they are also quite shy. Labracinus Dottybacks should only be housed with larger fish that are not easily harrassed such as large Eels, Angelfish, Tangs, Groupers, Squirrelfish, Snappers, Triggers and Rabbitfish.
The Fire Tailed Dottyback are also known simply as Fire Tail Devil. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Fire Tailed Dottybacks have a very impressive bright red tail against a dark red brown colored body and several vertical pale colored stripes on its body. They can grow to 8".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 75 gallons or larger for this species.
