Longfin Dottyback
(Manonichthys polynemus)
Manonichthys Dottybacks should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rock work with cracks, caves and crevices for hiding. Although shy and secretive they are also quite territorial and will defend their territory aggressively. Manonichthys Dottybacks are hardy and easy to feed. A diet of meaty based foods should be provided daily. Manonichthys Dottybacks may become difficult to feed as natural prey is eliminated in the aquarium. Try providing live adult enriched Brine shrimp or Black Worms to entice a feeding response. Careful thought and planning needs to be done before Manonichthys Dottybacks are added to the aquarium as they are extremely fast moving fish and are quite difficult to catch once placed in the aquarium.
The Longfin Dottyback is also known as the Threadfin Dottyback. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Longfin Dottybacks are a dark grey color with rows of horizontal yellow dots, a yellow spot at the base of the pectoral fin and under its eye. They can grow to almost 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
