(Pholidochromis cerasina)
Pholidochromis Dottybacks are small, hardy, and easy to feed. Plenty of rock work with cracks and crevices should be provided for hiding. Pholidochromis Dottyback may pick at and consume benthic invertebrates. They have also been known to eat crustaceans, polychaete worms, bristleworms and mantis shrimp. A diet of meaty based foods a should be provided multiple times daily. Although Pholidochromis are known to be territorial and aggressive towards other fish they are also quite shy. Pholidochromis should be housed with larger fish that are not easily harrassed.
The Cherry Dottyback are also known simply as Red Spotted Pygmy Basslet. Seldomly seen in the aquarium trade. Male and female Cherry Dottyback will have different color patterns. The females are a lovely silver color with a tint of pink, males will also be silver with cherry colored spots on its body. They can grow to a little over 3".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
