Red Serosa Dottyback
(Pseudoplesiops typus)
Pseudoplesiops Dottybacks should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rock work with cracks, caves and crevices for hiding. Can be secretive and shy when first added to the aquarium but will become bolder as they acclimate to their new surroundings. They may annoy smaller tankmates. Pseudoplesiops Dottybacks are hardy and easy to feed. A diet of meaty based foods should be provided daily. Careful thought and planning needs to be done before Pseudoplesiops Dottybacks are added to the aquarium as they are extremely fast moving fish and are quite difficult to catch once placed in the aquarium.
The Red Serosa Dottyback are also known as the Hidden Dottyback. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Red Serosa Dottyback males and females may have color differences. Males are a beautiful pink to red coloration and females are a pale pink with yellow to green color as the body and fins meet. They can grow to almost 2".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
