Gorgasia Eels known commonly as Garden Eels as they will bury themselves in the sand. They require aquariums with very deep sand beds and minimal rock work. Garden eels bury most of their body in the sand leaving only their heads out in order to search for and capture food. Do not attempt to hand feed or stick your hand in the aquarium near Eels as they may bite. When feeding use a long handled tool with meaty foods attached waving in front of them as most Eels have poor eye site. A diet of meaty based foods should be provided multiple times daily. These Eels can be kept together in very large aquariums. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid, Eels have been known to escape.
