Firefish Goby
(Nemateleotris magnifica)
Nemateleotris Firefish should be added to aquariums with plenty of rockwork, cracks, crevices and caves for hiding when threatenedd. Firefish will also need ample swim room with moderate current as they will generally face into the water flow in order to capture food. Small groups have been housed together in larger aquariums. House with other tank mates that will not out compete Firefish for food. Feed a diet rich in meaty foods twice daily as Firefish coloration may fade if not well fed. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as they are known to jump.
Fire Goby are also sometimes known as the Magnificent Fire Fish, Fire Dartfish or Red Fire Goby. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Fire Goby are white with the back portion of their body and tail being a bright or dark red color. Fire Goby can grow to almost 3".
