White Striped Hogfish
(Terelabrus rubrovittatus)
Terelabrus Hogfish should be added to aquariums with ample rock work, cracks, crevice's and caves for hiding and resting. Provide a deep sand bed as Hogfish are noted to forage through the sand with their long snouts looking for invertebrates. They are hermaphrodites meaning most are born as females and at some point in their life may turn into a male. Juveniles and adult males will have marked color differences. Harems can be kept in the aquarium with one male and several females if added at the same time. A diet rich in meaty based foods should be provided for continued health. Hogfish can jump be sure to provide an aquarium with a well fitted lid.
White Striped Hogfish are also sometimes known as the Yellow Striped Hogfish. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. White Striped Hogfish are a beautiful white and red striped fish with a yellow trimmed dorsal fin. White Striped Hogfish can grow to almost 5".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
