Pompano Jack

(Trachinotus Caeolinus)

Trachinotus Jacks are fast growing and become quite large they should only be added to very large aquariums preferrably zoos or public aquariums. They are very active, strong fish that will bully other tank mates careful consideration should be given before adding this fish to home aquariums. Provide wide open swim areas with minimal rockwork. Juvenile Jacks are often found near sandy, muddy bottom regions and adults are generally found solitary. Adults will generally feed on sand mollusks and other hard shelled invertebrates. Provide a diet rich in meaty foods, be sure to keep well fed.

Pompano Fish are also sometimes known as the Florida Pompano. They are not often seen in the aquarium trade. Pompano Fish have a streamlined, silvery body with a blue-green tint on their dorsal surface. The Pompano Fish can grow up to 26 inches in length.
