Eastern Kelpfish
(Chironemus marmoratus)
Chironemus Kelpfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Chironemus are found in kelp forests and prefer cooler temperatures. Chironemus Kelpfish are hardy and can be aggressive and should be housed with larger more intrusive tank mates that also prefer cooler temperatures. A diet of meaty and algae based foods which includes Spirulina should be provided. There are marked color differences between juveniles and adults.
Eastern Kelpfish are also sometimes known simply as Kelpfish or Large Kelpfish. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Eastern Kelpfish are generally a combination of gray, brown, green or pink with small white spots, and large dark blotches. Eastern Kelpfish can grow to almost 16".
