Tiger Longnose Killifish
(Fundulus similis/majalis)
Fundulus Killifish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rockwork with plentiful algae. Fundulus Killifish are often seen near brackish waters. They are very hardy and able to tolerate a wide range of temperatures, salinities and oxygen levels. Frequently, found in tidal pools the Fundulus Killifish have been seen flopping out of the pools towards the ocean. Male and females have varying color and pattern differences. Provide a diet rich in meaty foods.
Tiger Longnose Killifish are also sometimes known simply as the Longnose Killifish. They are not often seen in the aquarium trade. Tiger Longnose Killifish has a slender body with a pointed snout and a prominent dorsal fin. Tiger Longnose Killifish are an olive to silver core with dark vertical stripes They can grow up to 5 inches in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 20 gallons or larger for this species.
