Mono Argenteus

Provide Mono Argenteus with a well filtered, well established aquarium with plenty of rockwork, caves, cracks and crevices. Mono Argenteus will need ample swim room and plants. Juveniles generally inhabitat freshwater areas while adults are generally found in saltwater. Mono Argenteus are senstitive to temperature and water quality be sure to monitor aquarium parameters. Mono Argenteus can be kept with other peaceful tank mates of similar size but can be quite territorial. They will also require moderate water flow to continue to thrive. Juveniles and adults will see marked color differences. Mono Argenteus are omnivores and will require a diet rich in meaty and algae based foods such as Spirulina, Seaweeds, Brine Shrimp and Bloodworms.
Mono Argenteus are also sometimes known as the Silver Moony, Moonfish or Diamondfish. They are commonly available fish species in the aquarium trade. The Mono Argenteus has a distinctive appearance, with a silver or gray body and black vertical stripes running along the body. They have a laterally compressed body shape and a single dorsal fin. They can grow up to 8 inches in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 125 gallons or larger for this species.
