Barber Perch

Caesioperca Barberfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing and hiding. Caesioperca Barberfish may pick at corals and crustaceans. A diet of meaty and algae based foods should be provided multiple times daily. Multiples can be added simultaneously to a large aquarium. Barberfish tend to be shy and peaceful but can become territorial if their aquarium is to small. They are generally very hardy and active grazers during the day. Barberfish may provide a cleaning service picking the parasites off of other willing fish.
Barber Perch are also sometimes known as the Barber Sea Perch or Red Perch. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Large Juveniles and female have a pink tint and large vertical black stripe and a blue stripe under its eye while basically the same color younger juveniles will have a black head. Males will be an overall silver to yellow color, blue trimmed fins and blue dotted fins. Barber Perch can grow to almost 10".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
