Blue Spotted Rabbitfish
(Siganus corallinus)
Siganus Rabbitfish also known as Spinefoots are a favorite among hobbists. They should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work should be provided for grazing, resting and hiding. Siganus Rabbitfish are generally herbivores but if not fed well enough may pick at tunicates, sponge or even coral. A diet rich in algae based foods should be readily provided. Care will need to be taken when handling Rabbitfish as they have venomous spines. Siganus Rabbitfish are considered peaceful towards most fish except other Rabbitfish, consider adding only one per aquarium. Siganus Rabbitifish have the unique ability to camouflage themselves while sleeping or when frightened.
Blue Spotted Rabbitfish are also sometimes known as the Coral Rabbitfish, Coral Spinefoot or Orange Spinefoot. Uncommonly seen in the aquarium trade. Blue Spotted Rabbitfish are an overall orange to yellow with small blue spots. Juveniles have thin blue vertical lines as they mature will begin to break up in spots. Blue Spotted Rabbitfish can grow to slightly more than 12" but more commonly seen at almost 8".
