Ocellated Electric Stingray

Diplobatis Stingrays should be added to very large aquariums with wide open swim areas and a good filter system. Stingrays also require a fine sand bed as they may partially bury themselves in the sand, concealing themselves from predators. Diplobatis Stingrays will be seen hopping on its pelvic fins along the bottom of the aquarium. Stingrays are sensitive to copper, do not treat aquarium with copper products. Provide Stingrays with a diet rich in meaty based foods. They are social among their own species. Diplobatis Stingrays can generate an electrical discharge with their electric organ. Ensure a tight fitting lid as Stingrays may jump.
Ocellated Electric Stingray are also sometimes known as Bullseye Electric Ray. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Ocellated Electric Stingray are generally a brown to tan mottled color with a black and yellow false eyespot in the middle of its back. Ocellated Electric Stingray can grow to almost 10".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 100 gallons or larger for this species.
